Switzerland weather

Can anyone please tell me what type of temps we should be expecting to have in early July in the Lauterbrunnen/Jungrau region. We are planning on hiking some and on your videos it looked as if people had jackets on due to the high elevation. We are backpacking so if anyone can offer some suggestions, would appreciate it.

Mountain weather is always unpredictable. No matter what the season anything is possible. So yes, you have to bring a jacket along - but you also could end up baking in the sun. Dress in layers to be prepared.

Temperature decreases about 3 1/2 degrees Fahrenheit for every 1000 foot gain in altitude above sea level. I don't remember the exact altitudes in Switzerland, but let me give you an example that can illustrate how different the weather can be in the Swiss mountains,on the same day, depending on the altitude you're at. Let's say Interlaken is at 1500 feet and the temperature there is 75°. At the same time, if you are at Muerren at 5000 feet the temperature is 60 - 65°. for someone who is at the top of the Jungfraujoch at 11,000 feet, the temperature is 45° and there may be a wind which will make the wind chill on your skin feel like 30°. Bring layers and if you're going to go up high, bring a hat, wind-resistant outer layer, sunblock and sunglasses.

Yep...it csn be 80 degrees farenhieght in Interlaken and 30 degrees up on the top of Jungfraujoch...and even when it is cold, when the sun is out, it will seem very warm while hiking...layers...easy on and easy off.

Ditto on the weather being kind of weird. If you are doing all the things in the valley you will need all types of clothing, especially a good wind breaker/rain jacket type.
We went up the Jungfrau (2 weeks ago) and it felt warmer outside in the sun outside then inside building. If you go to the Trummelbach Falls you want that jacket too because you get a little damp and the temps dropped a good bit in there as well at least on our visit anyway.
