Switzerland --urban public transport

the brochure that came with the Swiss Pass says it includes "free travel on urban public transport" So does that mean when we are in say Bern, the trams in the city would be included? If so, what are the mechanics. Do you just show your ticket?

Yes, that's exactly what it means. All you have to do is show the driver your Swiss Pass, and you're good to go.

I was in Bern last week and rode the trams in the town using my Swiss Pass. Just show the Pass to the driver and you are good to go.

The Swiss Pass was also valid in the public transportation in all the citites that we visited. These included Lausanne, Zurich, Luzern and Interlaken, in addition to Bern. We also used it to take lake cruises in Luzern, Interlaken and Zurich.

I understand that boat cruises will use a day of travel on the pass. What about public transit? Would using free bus transit require a day of travel on the pass? If I am already taking a train on that day, though, then it doesn't take an additional day, correct? Thanks!
