Switzerland tolls - can you pay in euros?

I'm driving from Germany, through Switzerland, to get to Italy. Since I'm only passing through, I don't want to have to exchange money and get Swiss Francs - will they let me pay tolls in euros? And how much are the tolls?
Thanks!

Thanks for this info, but I'm not renting a car - I'm driving with my German friend and using her car. Where else could we get this vignette pass?

There are no tolls in Switzerland, but you need to buy a vignette sticker to drive there. If you ask your rental agency in advanced, they might be able to provide one for you, for a fee.

It will cost CHF40 and is valid on all Swiss autobahns from December of the previous year, all 12 months of issue year, through January of the following year. There is no shorter version sold, unlike Austria which sells 10 day Vignettes. You can get them at the border, and, depending on where you are coming from in Germany, most likely at filling stations within, say, 20 km of the border. You won't have tolls until you reach Italy.

Thanks, that's great to know. About how much will the tolls in Italy be, if I'm driving down to Lucca, and then across to Venice?

In order to help with amounts we need to know your route. There are many routes through Switzerland to Italy. Or, to do it yourself you could use viamichelin which will also give you fuel usage and great maps.

I'm driving from Offenburg, Germany, through Bassell, through Switerland to Luzern, then down through Lake Como, around Milano, down near Parma, to the coast near La Spezia, then finish in Lucca. Those are the big cities that come up on my Gogglemaps route, and I'm also taking a GPS. Thanks for the help!

I take it that your friend is driving after Venice? Or is that where you split up?

No, we're both driving from Venice to the Dolomites, and then back to her house in Hornberg, Germany.
