Hi, We are landing in Zurich at the end of June and want to make the most out of 14 days in Switzerland-South Germany-Austria. We want to spend time in the Alps and 'pittoresques' areas. What would you say are the must see locations? Many thanks in advance.

Well, we did Bern and Lauterbrunnen/Murren area - both very nice...in Austria we only did Salzburg but spent 2 days there and lots to do...I think a lot of people like Lucerne and Vienna as well...

Are you also flying out of Zurich? From Zurich I would go to the Berner Oberland. I stay in Muerren at Hotel Alpina. I would spend 2-3 nights there. From there the Appenzell region of Switzerland is beautiful and then on to Austria. I love Lermoos which is in the Zugspitze arena and has beautiful views of the mountains with lots of zimmers/pensions, restaurants and a summer luge in Biberwier. jLots of hiking in this area. From there you could go to Salzburg then start heading back to Zurich with a stop in Oberammergau or Fuessen. You could also stop in Munich if there is something of interest for you there.
