I have read about the Chocolate Train ex Montreux via Gruyeres to Broc but I'm wondering if it's worth booking for this scenic train or just doing the trip myself ?
I will have a rail pass so the train travel will be free and it's also free to enter the Calliers factory, so I'm wondering why people would book to travel on the Chocolate Train and pay the CHC39.00 supplement for something that seems to be free ???
Any ideas ?
The Chocolate Train sometimes uses vintage 1915 Pullman coaches, so for some railway buffs the trip is worth the supplement. But as you discovered you can do the same route on the regularly scheduled trains- all included with the Swiss Pass. I highly recommend a visit to this area, Gruyere is great and the nearby Calliers Factory is literally the icing on the cake for a great day trip.
