Switzerland & Lake Como

Just posted about a trip to Paris, but my husband and I are also planning a trip to Switzerland and Lake Como (tentatively). Anyone done this combo? Seems like Lake Como is very close to Lugano. We will only have 7 actual sightseeing days...thoughts? Is Lugano worth it?

Thanks!

Thanks. We were really only going to include Lugano since it's on the way to Lake Como; we certainly intend on spending most of our Switzerland time in Berner Oberland, Lucerne, etc. (haven't done a whole lot of research on that yet). I guess we should just skip Lugano and go straight to Lake Como?

We are not renting a car - sounds harrowing! Even the bus sounds bad...

Ok, I am a great fan of the area, We stayed in Morcote, small town at the end of the road to Lugano, you can take ferry boats to all the towns on the lake. We stayed at Hotel Carina, lovely place! We drove over one night to Lake Maggiore, and took a boat (row boat, rowed by a man)to a restaurant Called Isola de Comacina....this is a MUST! Nothing but the restaurant on this small island. Dinner is 7 couses, all fabulous, then after dinner there is some entertainment. Then the row boat man rows you across the lake back to your car. It was fun! It may be a bit touristy now but years ago, it was the highlight of our trip....Enjoy!
