My husband and I are taking our two teens to Switz and Italy for 2 weeks at Christmas. So far we have several days in Luzern area and two nights in Wengen booked. With our remaining two days in Switzerland, I had wanted to go to the Vevey-Montreux (see Castle of Chillon) area - that way they experience Swiss/German culture, beauty of Jungfrou, train travel through Golden Pass and then French-speaking culture. Should we attempt this or just hang out longer in Berner-Oberland? I'm trying to think what will be memorable to two 15 year olds. I'm open to other suggestions too. Thanks!
This sounds like a perfect itinerary to me. When your in the Montreux area see if you can find some time to visit the official Olympics museum in Lausanne. It's only a few minutes away by train.
Do you plan on doing any skiing or just touring?
You probably don't need several days in Luzern. Be sure to visit Murren, Gimmelwald, and Isenfluh while you are in Wengen.
Thanks so much for the ideas of other places to visit. We're staying three nights in Luzern because of jet lag, Christmas Day and to see Mt Pilatus, Swiss Transport Museum, boat trip on Lake Luzern. Would three nights in Wengen area and one in Montreux/Lausanne be a better split than 2/2? Thanks
