Switzerland in early April -insane?

Our plan is largely to hike in the Ticino region, mostly in the Lugano area and spend a few days, either on the way to or, staying in Luzern before departing for home from Zurich. The reason for the travel dates we've chosen has to do with the timing of planting a garden. Using the early April itinerary, any thoughts? Larry

I don't know Ticino that well, other than that it's slightly warmer than the rest of the country. In most of the rest of the Alps, early April is the tail end of the ski season. Conditions are generally not suitable for Alpine hiking.
