Switzerland for 2 days

First time in Europe, heading out in March and looking to spend a few days on my own in Switzerland before heading to Colmar, france to meet up with french friends.

Should I rent a car or stick with trains? Any advice is welcomed and i promise to return the favor by posting when i return.:0)

Lisa,

I'd definitely recommend travel by train. The Swiss Rail system is excellent (and usually precisely on time).

Happy travels!

Hi Lisa,

Stick with the trains. THE best way to see/get around Switzerland!

We spent a couple of days in Lucerne before going to Colmar, and it was a great place to spend 2 days since it is small enough to see most everything -- even though an extra day or so would have provided time to do a bit more. Brasserie Budo is a great place to eat if you go to Lucerne.
Travel is simple by train.
Colmar is delightful. Have a wonderful trip!

Just to let you know, don't plan on doing any hiking at that time of year. March is near the tail end of the ski season.

Lucerne is a great town. When we were there (in May) it was beautiful. Do NOT rent a vehicle. The Swiss train system is as good as it gets.
