We are thinking of heading to Switzerland and then possibly Milan, Lake Como and leaving from Venice for 10-14 days the middle of June. Has anyone done that trip? We have two girls, ages 11 & 8, who travel well and looking forward to going to Europe again! Thanks in advance!!
Thanks for the itinerary suggestions. My husband and I have been to Bolzano and saw Otzi, the "Ice Man" there! I would love to take the kids there too! I am going to start looking into it! Thanks again.
Kristin,
With only 10-14 days, I'd suggest spending part of the time in the Berner Oberland region of Switzerland, part in the area around Milan (such as Varenna / Lago di Como, Stresa or Lugano), perhaps a short stop (one night?) in Verona to see the fictitious "Romeo & Juliette" garden and the remainder in Venice.
With such a short trip, I wouldn't bother with any time in Milan (although you'll have to travel through there to reach other destinations).
Happy travels!
Kristin, I would have to respectfully disagree with the dis of Milan. I know that many consider it "unItalian" or something on that order. But, it is a beautiful city, very cosmopolitan. The duomo is very unique. The tour of La Scala is wonderful, even if one is not an opera buff. I'm not suggesting a week, but one full day would be well spent.
Bellinzona, Switzerland, has the most incredible castles. Do check it out!
Thanks for all the suggestions. Castles sound great - especially since we have two girls. Lots to think about but really looking forward to it!!
