Switzerland 4 days and 4 night iten.

Hi All,
I have an iten. for Switzerland for March, please let me know if its too tight and what we can modify. We will be there (March 24th - March 28th)
1) Day 1 : Reaching Interlaken at 12:30 pm. Not really sure what to do this day, was thinking of spending the day by taking the Gold Pass Scenia route from Interlaken to Geneva. By the time we come back it will be time for dinner. I don't think we need to get out of the trains while going to stop in any towns right?
2) Day 2 - Wake up am and go to Schilthorn and have breakfast spend sometime here. (I would assume we need about 1-2 hours here) Head down to Gimmelwald, eat lunch and walk around for another 2-3 hours. Head further down to Murren have dinner and stay the night here.
3) Day 3 - Wake up am and head from Murren to Jungfrau. I assume we would have to come down to Lauterbrunnen and then make up to Jungfrau. Spend another (2 hours here) I am guessing it would be 2 pm by now. Head down and spend rest of the day and night in Interlaken.
4) Day 4 - Take am train to Lucere and spend the whole day here. Note : We will not being going to any museums over here.
5) Day 5 - Take am train for Munich.

Questions : Do I need more time for any of the places for Day 1,2,3. Note : Due to the weather we are not going to be hiking at all.
Is the Golder Express worth is or something we can skip totally and just head for the peaks?
Do we need to spend an extra day in the Berner Oberland area?

The train rides will be long - so you will want to leave really early - like 6am! to squeeze it all in. Check the SBB.ch web site swiss train schedules. they have an english button on the top left.

Also - in Lauterbrunnen/Murren/Interlaken. Its all relativley close - the valley is surrounded by all the other cliff villages. And the trains are good. Id suggest picking one town to stay in and do the day trips around the valley. Murren or Wengen would be my choice. You could also stay in Interlaken - but tis so nice to stay up high! Depending on your time - one nite in interlaken may be ok - then stay the rest in the other towns. RIck has lots of oggod day trips in his swiss book.

re: the Geneva trip - if its just the train ride you want - you will get some nice views getting to the alps. Its a long day of all train if you want to do Interlanken to Geneva and back. The Lake area is really nice - but it may take you way out of your way if your need to get to Munich later (6-8hrs!)

Simran, your itinerary is pretty confusing. The way you state it, you are changing hotels each night. Do you plan to carry your luggage with you up the Schilthorn on your way to spend the second night in Mürren? And then up the Jungfraujoch so you can go back and spend the night in Interlaken? That is not a good plan.

Like Tom, I suggest you stay closer to the peaks, in either Lauterbrunnen, Mürren, or Wengen. In March, Lauterbrunnen might be the best as the others may be crowded with skiers. You can easily access both the Schilehorn and the Jungfraujoch from there, and leave you luggage behind in your hotel room.

Simran, it's improving. Looks better. Day 2 Interlaken. Go to the Interlaken Ost (East) train station. Purchase your roundtrip ticket to Stechelberg. Stechelberg is where the gondola is to go to the Shilthorn. You'll travel 25 minutes by train to Lauterbrunnen and then transfer to the bus across the street (every 30 minutes) to Stechelberg. The bus goes right into the gondola station. From there, you gondola up to Gimmelwald, Murren and then the Shilthorn. You'll transfer to an adjacent gondola at both Gimmelwald and Murren. Coming down, you will get to Murren before Gimmelwald. Murren is higher. But, you can go to Gimmelwald first and then back up to Murren to stay the night. You'll love Murren. Day 3 - Jungfrau. Figure 5-6 hours. The train takes 2hrs to get up and 2hrs to get down. The rest is your time at the Jungfraujoch (large complex at the top). The food is not bad there. The rest looks OK.
