I am trying to find info on doing a 3 day/2 night hut to hut hike somewhere either in bernese oberland or appenzell regions. I can't seem to find info on specific trails and huts that may be along certain trails. I am not sure if I need to make reservations at huts before I go, or if I can just wing it, once I am there.
Also, is the swiss half price rail ticket the way to go or should i try to buy a pass before I get to Switzerland. Thanks!
CLICK HERE for information on hikes in the B.O. This site has maps and things. I don't see info on huts but perhaps, you can google the names of some of the very small places on the maps and find some.
Alpinehikers.com has lots of options for ideas and selfguided hikes customized for any experience. Check out his website and also the swiss tourism board. Some great hiking books by Cicerone "hiking in the alps" from amazon - written by Kev Renyolds.
Forgot to mention - you should get any rail pass here before you go to Europe usually - unless its a local regional one for locals. RS has them for sale on his website (and alpinehikers can help too)!
thanks for the advice everyone!
