My wife and I are making the itinerary for our first visit to Europe this coming September. We want to visit the best place in Switzerland for 1 day. Our first thought was to take the Glacier Express, but it was not recommended it if we stay for one day in this country. So, what other option do we have? Please help us!...Thank you. Gil

I agree with Kent. The most scenic and enjoyable is the Muerren or Wengen areas of the Berner Oberland. Both are at 5,000' (Muerren is actually at 5,300'). Muerren is everything you would want to see in a Swiss alpine village.
I hope that your one day includes one night. It takes about 3 hours to get to Muerren from Zurich and the same going back if you have to return to Germany for your flight out or resumption of your other travel.
