In Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, advance train tickets with reservations were not necessary; seating readily available. Would you recommend the same procedure for Switzerland? I do intend to get advance reservations for the Golden Pass segment.
Reservations are optional on the Golden Pass train- they are not required.
Just like Belgium and Holland, reservations are not possible on domestic intercity trains in Switzerland. Seats are first come first serve. If you have a Swiss Pass, you simply hop on and off trains you need to take.
Hi David,
Just to clarify, the Golden Pass trains do require reservations but the others do not. I think you already knew that, but I just wanted to be sure.
If you want a bit more view, pay a few CHF extra and get one of the 8 seats directly over the engineers. You would be on top of the engine with great views. CLICK HERE to see a picture of the Golden Pass train and the glass area above the engine.
