Swiss Rain Plan?

For my upcomming trip (end of may) to the Lauterbrunnen Valley, I've heard stories of the weather being unpredictible. Is there any advice for what to do for a solo traveler in case it is raining a lot?

Also, thanks for all the help this forum has already provided!

Rain storms in the mountains usually don't last too long. Just wait it out, or if the rain just doesn't seem to stop, just go to Interlaken and browse through the stores.

The flip side of the short rain storms, however, is that they can hit with little warning. Even if the sky looks completely clear when you start your hike, be preparted with some wet-weather gear.

Id agree- just have a light rain-proof jacket handy (packlite goretex is great) and have another coffee-schanps at the hut or cafe while you wait it out. The cows dont mind if you hang out with them too.

One of my favorite hikes last summer was rainy, which just added to the experience! I took the train from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen and then the lift up to Mannlichen. When the lift arrived, we were in a cloud - could see hardly anything. I had a small umbrella in my pack, and a windbreaker, so headed out down the mountain, and had it practically to myself; only one other couple on the entire path. I started out with on the road cleared and snow all around and loved seeing the mists - as I got lower the snow disappeared and when I got down to the bottom of the ski lift, the snow was gone. The rest of the day was fine, with intermittent sun and rain. I ended up catching the train back to Wengen - wonderful day in the Alps, rain and all! Take your rain gear and go for it!
