Swiss Pass (flexi-pass)

Does anyone know if you use the swiss pass for the Golden round pass in Lucern if it counts as a travel day or a 50% off day? What about for the Jungfrau and Schlithorn? Thanks for any information.

I don't think any Swiss pass will get you above Gimmelwald and Murren to the Shilthorn or above Wengen to the Jungfraujoch. I'm sure your pass will get you to the villages mentioned but not beyond. I think it will get you a 50% discount. The full fare (no pass) up to the Jungfraujoch is $134 and about $80 up to the Shilthorn. Your pass would cover half that cost in Swiss Francs.

If you use the 50% off feature of your FlexiPass it does NOT count as a travel day. Since the Schilthorn and Jungfrau trips are only covered 50% anyway, there is no need to use up a travel day for either of these trips (unless you want to use it to cover travel to Mürren or to Kleine Scheidegg from somewhere else---you would need to price the tickets to see if that is cost-effective). Same for the Golden Round trip from Luzern---although you could fully cover the boat section, the trip up Pilatus and back down will only be covered 50%, even if you used a travel day. So better to not use up a travel day just for the boat trip. Just remember that the 50% off feature only counts between the first and last day you actually use the pass. In other words, with a 3-day pass, if you use your third day to travel from Luzern to Mürren, say, you cannot use it as a 50% off pass after that. So save one day on the pass for your last trip.

Larry,

Thanks for the information on the Swiss Pass. Do you know if the 50% counts as a flexi day on the Swiss Pass or just a discount day? I know the pass gets me to Wengen and Murren, but does that mean if I use it for the transportation to that area and the 50% off the Schilthorn as a use day? It is too complicated all these passes. Also, do you know if I can use the museum pass on the non use days, or does that count as a use day? Thanks for any other help you can give me.

I think you should go to www.sbb.ch (Swiss Rail System) and send them an email asking these questions. They are helpful and friendly and would probably know a few more details than anyone here on this board.
