Swiss Pass - 1st class or 2nd class, is it worth it?

Hi, planning on a number of trains while going into, throughout and out of Switzerland, including Paris to Murren/Interlaken, Murren to Jungfaujoch and other mountains, Murren to Montreux, Montreux to Zermatt, Glacier Express to St. Moritz and Lucerne to Frankfurt. I haven't taken trains in Switzerland so I'm not sure if the difference between the two classes is worth it or not.

Any advice? Thanks.

In four trips traveling around Switzerland by train, we've always tken 2d class and it's fine. Some of the mountain trains (such as up the Jungfraujoch) don't even have a first class. And of course the cablecars (like the one you will use to get up to Muerren) don't either.

If by chance you want a first class seat in the special on the Glacier Express train, you can always upgrade for that journey by paying the difference between 1st and 2d.

Second class is good, no need to pay extra for first class, except maybe for a better view on the Glacier Express.
While in Montreux, hope you find time to visit the château de Chillon (free with your swisspass). You can even take a boat from Montreux to the château de Chillon (again the boat ride is free with your swiss pass).

I also agree to upgrading to 1st class on the Glacier Express. Swiss trains are very nice and 2nd class is just fine on all their other routes.
