We are traveling by train from Geneva to Interlaken and wonderd how much trouble it would be to take a side trip at Montreux to go to Chateau de Chillon, and would it be worth it.
From Geneva it's a two hour journey in total to the castle. Take a direct train to Montreux, from there either take the boat, municipal bus, or local train direct to the castle. After the castle make your way back to Montreux and take the scenic Golden Pass train to Interlaken. Journey time about 2.5 hours. Check schedules at the Swiss Rail site: http://rail.ch
