Swiss Alps weather in July

Probably a "tired" subject, but still trying to decide. We are going in July..No guarantees of course but does this tend to be a better month to go in regard to the weather? Thx, Steve

Confusing question, doesn't seem to have much to do with the title. They're only three or four miles apart. And better than what?

Murren is lovely. Lauterbrunnen is the place people drive through to get to Murren. The weather will be more unpredictable the higher you go up, but going up is why you're there, after all...

There is actually a fair amount of rainfall in summer. Fall tends to be drier-you can find rainfall/climate charts online. But I don't mean to say you shouldn't go in July--the Alps have pretty changable weather in general, meaning, you should expect anything no matter when you go. I was there in October and was hiking in a t shirt and shorts one day, and fleece, hat and gloves the next. A June visit was similar. This is why I wouldn't consider a visit of less than 4 days--I'd hate to only schedule a day or two and have it be bad weather.

I think Murren in much nicer, up high on the cliffs rather than in the valley shade, and with better views (and with no traffic). Some people like to stay in Lauterbrunnen because they find it convenient to both the Murren and Wengen sides, but then you're always paying for cable car/train tickets up to either side to hike. If you're already staying up in Murren (or Wengen, on the opposite side), you can hike right from your doorstep without first paying $$ for transportation up the mountain.

If you decide on Mürren, consider staying at Chalet Fontana. I always recommend this great lodging.
