Swimming in Paris

Hello all,

I have been living through this awful heat wave in Paris and I am looking for a place to cool off. I have found lots of listings of public pools in Paris, but nothing talks about their rules.

Does anyone have experience with public pools in Paris? If so, do they require women to wear bathing caps? Also do all women wear one piece suits or do you see the ladies in two pieces?

I'm looking to just spend a few hours lounging around, not swimming laps. Would it be better to go to a pool geared for families?

Thanks

I think they do require bathing caps, but I haven't found a clear answer on swimsuits. You might want to try the Trip Advisor Paris forum. I am curious, myself.

I just read this today!

Bathing Suits - If you are going to the Paris Plage this summer, the man-made beach on the banks of the Seine in central Paris, or traveling to the French Riveria to swim in the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, pack a bathing suit. Seen on everyone from 16 to 66, the style for Summer 2010 is the classic string bikini.

The French are much less body conscious than Americans. Fat, thin, old and young, if you are on the beach, let your body feel the sun's rays. Even if you would never be caught dead in a bikini in the States, you may be comfortable wearing one, with all your imperfections showing, in France. After spending the summer months on the Mediterranean coast, we found it strange to come back to the States and see all the women so covered up with the popular skirted one-pieces.
