Suggestions When Berner Oberland Weather Tanks...

Hi, We just got into Wilderswil yesterday. We had a great day today. Went up to Murren (socked in and snowing), but as we made our way down to town, the weather improved vastly. We stopped at Trummelbach Falls, hiked from there into Lauterbrunnen, then took a train back to Wilderswil after hanging out in town for a bit. Now, it's pouring, and the forecast is ugly for the next few days. We are leaving on Monday for Zurich and flying out Tuesday. Any ideas? I know that the weather is very fickle here. We have the Swiss 1/2 fare cards and are a family of 5. The two youngest are free with our Swiss Family Pass. I'm open to suggestions. We had a lovely day today, but I'm not so sure we will be having any break in the weather. Thanks!

Head to the Gruyere area. In addition to the cheese factory, and mini-castle, there is also the HR Gieger Museum. He is a sci-fi artist who did the designs for movies like Alien, and Species. Across from the museum he also designed a cafe to look like the spaceship from Alien (not as tacky as it sounds). In the next village you can find the Nestle Cailler chocolate factory which is open to the public, there is a train which will take you direct: http://www.cailler.ch/en/maison-cailler/visit-us/opening-hours/ Another option is to take the Golden Pass train connections from Interlaken to Montreux(walk around a bit), catch the Lake Geneva ferry to Lausanne (very scenic and relaxing), and tour Lausanne. The city houses the official Olympics museum. The main building is closed for renovations, but across the street is a temporary museum inside a vintage ferry anchored on the lake.

Head over to Thun and check out the castle, perhaps?

Maybe go visit the Oberhofen castle (close to Thun on the lake) or go to Bern.

I looks like it might be bad all over. I looked at the webcams this morning (when it was midday there) and the Matterhorn was out in full glory, but I see the forecast now is for 10 days of rain. Even Lugano, south of the alps, has rain predicted for Friday and Saturday. Montreux shows rain and snow!!!
