Hi! I am about to go to Zurich and Basel for the first time. We would like recs for restaurants, things to do and see, and also if someone could tell us if they have ever done a day trip from Zurich to Basel. We want to go to Basel for the day to see the famous art museum there. Is it doable by train? How long is the ride? Any recs for your favorite restaurants (especially affordable ones) in Zurich and Basel would be much appreciated! THANK YOU!

The train only takes about an hour from Zurich to Basel.

One of our favorite restaurants in Europe is Mere Catherine ( imagine the French accent marks as I cannot type them) in the Altstadt area of Zurich. It is not inexpensive, however.

years ago we stayed at "Hotel St Gotthard" in the old town Zurich , both hotel and its restaurant are highly recommended. Convenient walking around old town and to the rail station. tain ride to Basel should be scenic and efficient
