Sugar-Free or No Sugar Added Chocolate in Germany

Okay, we have less than two weeks away before we land in Germany. My wife and I are totally pumped for our first visit. Thanks to the many responses to our 17-day intinerary about three weeks ago, we made several changes and have made all the necessary arrangements.

Now the most important thing (at least for the wife). She can't eat sugar (only about 5 grams/day). So, when we are strolling by a chocolate store, do we have to pass, or will we be able to find sugar free or no-sugar added goodies like in the States? There's no way I can be sampling all that great regular chocolate if she can't indulge, so I'll eagerly wait for some positive news.

You can buy diatetec chocolate in most candy or chocolate stores. Dept. stores, grocery stores, reform houses(health food stores) and even drug store will have this available.

As a registered dietitian I'm curious as to why your wife is limited to only 5 gms of sugar (or carbohydrates) per day. I'm sure she is getting more than that from her other food.
