My wife and I are going to be traveling from Barcelona, to San Sebastian, with a two night stay in LaGuardia. We both have always wanted to eat a whole suckling pig. We have found several places around Rioja that claim suckling pig is a house specialty, but always like to hear from our fellow RS travelers. Has anyone found a place that specializes or serves this dish? We will have a car so transportation won't be an issue, and being a bucket list item, we are willing to spend what it will take.
Thanks for any tips.
I can't recommend anything. I can get a group of restaurants in the area with ratings by using the map feature on tripadvisor.com. I didn't look at every restaurant on the map. The reviews I saw were Spanish only (with some Catalon thrown in) but no mention of suckling pig. Google translates Spanish but their translation of Catalon is pretty funny. Go here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g2467322-La_Guardia_Province_of_Lleida_Catalonia.html Click on map in the column under La Guardia, then you can click on the restaurant icons and see a name, location, and review of the place. Hope that helps a little.
I'm not sure where La Guardia is but we had suckling pig in Segovia a few years ago. It was fabulous.
This sounds like a good question to ask on the Trip Advisor forums for Spain, and more specifically LaGuardia. Here you will find Destination Experts that live in the area and who will probably be able to give you some good advice about where to go.
