I will be in France for a month and would like to rent an apartment (studio or one bedroom) in Paris. Which companies might I inquire about such a request.
I would recommend parisbestlodge.com. There's lots of information about Thierry and his company here and at Trip Advisor.
I am going in March and have booked a 1 bedroom apartment with Vacation In Paris. So far their customer service is really great.
I would recommend Vacation in Paris also.
I had great success using Paris Perfect (www.parisperfect.com) for my trip in late September. I think most of their apartments are in the 7th arrondisement and I think you can rent for a month.
The Hotel Relais Bosquet has a studio apartment available for rent. I rented the one bedroom apartment last year and really liked the apartment and the location.
We also used vacation in paris and were very happy with the apartment and with their service.
I've used Parisstay.com and lodgis.com. There is also nyhabitat.com, but I haven't used them.
I just returned from a trip in which I rented a one bedroom apartment in Paris through VRBO. It was a great experience.
We also just returned from Paris and rented from VRBO (www.vrbo.com) The apartment was on Ile Saint Louis--a GREAT location. There was a bakery just downstairs so we could get our morning croissants and have coffee in the apartment before we began our day. The owner Annie, was very nice. You can view the apartment by going to the website--the owner listing number is #94988.
I can tell you from my experience, stay away from Paris Attitudes. The name says it all.

Nelson, I think you're smart to get recommendations from those who have actually stayed in aparments in Paris. On impulse, I gave up my hotel booking in September and rented an apartment in the Latin Quarter through VRBO. The pictures on the site made it look quite decent and all the feedback sounded good. However, it was very small with no dresser or closet for our clothes, so we lived out of our carry ons on the floor for a week (I can't imagine doing this for a month). That doesn't sound too bad you say, but since the room was so tiny, we were always tripping over them. I know accommodations are tight, which I don't mind, but there's a limit to small when you have to draw your knees in when sitting on the john in order to close the pocket door. We also had to transfer the mop bucket from the miniscule shower stall to a spot next to our bed whenever we wanted a shower - it wouldn't fit in the main part of the bathroom, since the whole "room" was the size of a portapotty...or smaller... There were so many rules that I was really afraid to use the "kitchen" area and, in order to save money, we had to clean and leave the place spotless for the next unsuspecting guest. The apartment was through a door on the street in the Latin Quarter where hawkers are vying for your business in their restaurants and plates are crashing as another way to vie for your business. Despite all the noise on the street, the apartment was in a courtyard and remarkably quiet. The good news was that we spent every waking hour from morning until about 10 or 11 at night out enjoying Paris, since we never wanted to go back to the apartment! I talked to 2 other couples (one while we were in Paris and one at home) who had interesting things to say about their apartments. I'm sure there are great places to stay; just plan wisely and do your research!
Check out historicrentals.com. The Hotel Relais Bosquet also rents nice apartments.
