Strasbourg to Salzburg or Munich: Drive,Train or Plane?

Has anyone taken this route by train? Is it pretty? Is it pricey? Any advice on the best way to do this? Anyone done it before? We're going in summer. Thanks

I've been from Offenburg, right across the river from Strasbourg, to Munich via Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, and Ulm, and from Munich to Salzburg, but not on the same trip. I wouldn't called the scenery "pretty, it's somewhat unforgettable. It's not like going through the Alps. . . . . ¶ I can advise you on the "best" way, but you said "we", two people? With the train, it doesn't have to be pricey. As low as €49 + €18 for two by the fastest way, with advance purchase; €56 + €14 for two by a more scenic, albeit slower route, with tickets purchasable at any time. . . . . . ¶ What I would advise this. Take train across the Rhein to Kehl, fare about €7 pP. Buy a Baden-Württemberg ticket for regional trains for €28. Go from there up the Murg to Freudenstadt, them from Freudenstadt to Stuttgart. The Murg river valley is scenic. The train from Freudenstadt to Ettingen im Gäu includes a spectacular high trestle. In Ulm, buy a €28 Bayern-Ticket which will take you all the way to Munich or Salzburg, where ever you want to go.
