Any recommendations for inexpensive but private accommodations in Strasbourg? We would like to stay a week, be centrally located or very close to public transport. Would also be interested in any other advice you have to offer about day trips, etc. Thanks!

At 84 euro a night, it's a lot more than I usually pay for a double, but I didn't have much success finding something better during the Christmas Market season. The location is directly in front of the tram, and also 5 - 10 minutes from the main train station, and centrally located.
I have also stayed at the Etap across from the main station, but I don't recommend it because it was dirty.
The food was excellent in Strasbourg. Stop in to a bakery for a hot duck pie or some pate.........ummmm.
