Has anyone stayed in Stein am Rhein or Lake Constance? I need recommendations for a place to stay there, and is it a good place to break up a train trip? I understand it is a pretty town, is there anything else to do there?
Stein am Rhein is charming. There are a number of photos in our album if you are interested:

We didn't do much while we were there except enjoy the lovely painted buildings and people watch along the Rhein River promenade. We stayed at the Hotel Rheingerbe which is right on the promenade. Nice owners and wonderful restaurant.
Lake Constance is definitely worth visiting. On separate trips, we have stayed in Lindau, Meersburg and Uberlingen. There is probably more to do in these towns than in Stein am Rhein but all are charming in their own right.
In Meersburg, we stayed at the historic Gasthof zum Baeren and in Uberlingen we stayed at the very nice Hotel Ochsen. I can highly recommend them both.
Thank you so much. I will look into all of those places.
Have stayed at Hotel Rheinfels in Stein am Rhine, and Hotel Zum Lieben Augustin in Wasserburg (just west of Lindau). Both hotels are moderately priced and the towns are very pretty. Not much in either for entertainment - mostly for the over 30 crowd.
