Giengen is not in RS books, but has anyone visited the town and the Steiff Museum there? We plan to drive there from Mittenwald on our way to Munich. We know it's out of the way, but we have a daughter who has a small collection of Steiff bears and is pet-sitting for us on our two week trip. We would like to surprise her.

You don't need to go out of your way to visit the museum unless you are really interested in seeing it. The bears are available in the large department stores in Germany - Kaufhof or Karstadt.

Giengen is located in the heart of an area with plenty of natural caves and some of them can be visited. It's a beautiful small town with plenty of baroque buildings and yes, all the original Steiff buildings can be visited. Try this and click your way thru the website, even though it's in German only.
