Can anyone recommend a Hotel in Vienna? We will be there at the beginning of June this year.
Also, any suggestions on how to spend our time? we have 3 full days in Austria. We do not have any flexibility as this is the end of a 2 wk trip.
Thanks in advance.
Jeanette
Jeanette, we stayed in a wonderful pension right near the Opera (which will be on holiday, I think, so you can probably cross that off your list of things to do). I think it was in the RS book. Look for one that says within a block of the opera. I'll see if I can find where I wrote it down and get back to you.
Walking the ring road, with stops for drinks or snacks is fun, and there's a huge shopping street.
We were only in Vienna a couple of days, but our favorite thing was doing the Melk-to-Krems boat ride down the river. I think it would be a wonderful way to end your trip. It's described in the RS book, but we just popped into a travel agency in Vienna to book our tickets. The abbey in Melk is beautiful, and the boat ride is so relaxing and picturesque. A comfortable fast train gets you back to Vienna in the evening.
And, for about 400 more recommendations for hotels in Vienna, enter "Vienna Hotel" in the upper right hand search box, or go to tripadvisor.com and enter Vienna.
There are about 20-30 really great places in Vienna, and hundreds of other options - all excellent choices, depending on what you are looking for. So you need to decide where you want to be, how much you want to pay, what sort of ambience you want and what features are most important.
Hi Jeanette,
We've taken rooms in Hôtel Graben, in Vienna's old center at least twice. Besides being a nice hotel, centrally located, it's historical too [famous former guests]. Just across the narrow lane on which Hôtel Graben is located [Dorotheergasse] is the famous Café Hawelka, also historic [intrigue, plotting scene, etc. Great coffee and eats!]
Have a great time. Vienna is wonderful! P.
Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for taking the time and offering your suggestions. I really appreciate it and will add them to the top of our list of things to do...
Happy Travels
