We have a 2-night reservation in Gimmelwald and now find we can stay an extra night in the Berner Oberland. After hiking the west side of the valley, is it advisable to move to the Jungfrau side (east) to hike over there, or should we just stay put in Gimmelwald?

There are nice hikes from both Wengen and from Grindelwald (or Wilderswil). But moving your base will take up time. Why not just stay in Gimmelwald and use the lifts and train to travel to another hike?

You're fine staying in Gimmelwald. You'll need to gondola down to Stechelberg (5 min), take the post bus down to the Lauterbrunnen train station (15min) and then up you go on the cog train on the other side of the valley. Very easy.
