Staying in Paris in July for one week - apartment cheaper for 3?

We want to save money as we use Paris as our base for travel for one week during July. I am thinking that a kitchen and a few beds would be great for 2 adults and a teenager. Any suggestions? There are online sites that list apartments. What would be a great area close to the Metro? Thanks!

We rented an apartment for our 5 day stay in Paris last July for our family of 4. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment in the heart of the Rue Cler neighborhood that rented for 160E per night. We were very happy getting an apartment with our kids along; gave us more room to spread out and do a little cooking rather than going out for several meals each day.

We used Paris Address for renting our apartment and were very happy with them. They were there to meet us just when promised. There are many other rental agencies out there; including VRBO. Many in Paris are listed in previous posts on this site. Suggest you research anyone you consider going with to make sure they are reputable.

First place to start is to determine which area of Paris you'd like to stay and then start reasearching available apartments on several sites. You'll want to book early; the best apartments fill up shockingly early.

Enjoy!

We rented a one bedroom apartment for our 10 night stay over New Years last year. There were three of us, myself, husband and 20 year old daughter. She slept on the sofabed in the living room. I can't even imagine spending that time in a small hotel room. And if you have been to Paris you know the rooms are very small.

We stayed in the Latin Quarter (5th) on a small street that had a metro station at both ends. There was also shopping nearby and we could easily walk to many things. We had breakfast in the apartment and many days we took sandwiches with us for lunch. We cooked dinner at the apartment about half the time too. It saved us a ton of money to have the kitchen. We also had a washer and dryer, so helped us to pack light.

I found the apartment on vrbo.com. If you would like more information feel free to PM me.

We plan to visit Paris during a 3 week long trip in February/March and have booked a 2 bedroom, self-contained flat between the Cadet/Poisonniere metro stations, in the Opera arrondissement. We're paying $125 euro/night. If you'd like more info, PM me and I can give you some more information.

We've had good luck booking through homelidays.com, where you'll deal directly with the owner, and most have lots of photos and customer reviews. We try to stay just outside the tourist areas, to try to get more "local" suroundings. Our favourite area is the edge of the 15th and 16th arr. where they border the 6th and 7th....Boulevards Grenelle, Garibaldi, Vaugirard areas.<p
And I agree with Jeff....grab something now....July is an extremely popular month.

I've also booked through vacationinparis.com and was happy. You can pay with credit card via paypal and they mail the keys to you before you leave. It was quite simple.

For July, if air conditioning is important to you, make sure to ask about it.

Got to agree with Norm. Last May our 1 bed apt (booked thru Homelidays, 600 to 700E$/wk)) at the top of the 15th, was one block to one Metro stop, five to another, and within walking distance of the Eiffel tower. It was in a quiet neighborhood, with lots of shops and restaurants.

Make sure that you Google map the adress, alos turn on the "street view", and look around. As long as you are close to a Metro stop, you are close to everything.

When we are in Europe we book our apts thru Homelidays or VRBO.

Laura is correct. Many Paris apts do not have AC....ask first!

We used vacationinparis.com last summer. Found a cheap place in Rue Cler for $175 a night(id#56). If you stayed less than nights a $85 cleaning fee is charged.
