My family is five adults and we will be in Leipzig from May 28 until May 31. Does anyone know of local hotels that are reasonably priced and close to public transportation? They do not need to be elaborate or fancy but I would like clean and friendly.
Frank, it depends on what you mean by reasonable pricing. I've checked out Leipzig hotels and it seems to me that there is a dearth of reasonably priced ones. On the other hand, almost everything in Leipzig is close to transportation - streetcars, bus, etc. Tripadvisor lists all of the hotels, so you could pick one out from there and check it out. It also depends on what you want to be close to, if you're there as a tourist or want to locate close to wherever you need to be. If you're there as a tourist, you need to be reasonably close to the inner city. Does anyone in your family speak German? I've checked out some apartments all in the same building, fairly close to the inner city and close to transportation. The website is in German only. The pictures look very promising and inviting and modern - which is not always the case in Leipzig. The apartment I checked out is priced at 60 Euros/day and includes taxes but it looks like you have to request bedding and maybe towels and pay extra for this. The one I looked at has an occupancy of max. 5 people. For three days a hotel might be less trouble, though. If you have a question regarding location etc., I could probably help out, since I know Leipzig quite well.
hi Anna, how did this turn out for you? I am meeting up with my son and a German woman friend just one night Aug 27 and an apartment would be nice so we can all stay together.
please share any suggestion. thanks!
We rented an apartment from the organization below for our trip in May and it was very nice. The apartment was everything they said it would be and I would definitely rent from them again. It certainly beats a hotel room and for a larger group, it alloows people to cook and relax together. Einfach Schlafen- Zimmervermietung <[email protected]>
You can also look at the city's website: www.leipzig.de Look under the heading "tourismos" to find accommodations.
