Staying in Haarlem- getting to and from Amsterdam

So of course the prices are just insane in Amsterdam for hotels, so I wanted to see if staying in Haarlem is a better (and cheaper) choice!

My issue is transportation. I see that the trains do run regularly (http://www.ns.nl) but how late do they run? We don't want to cut our fun short at 11:30 if they don't run late.

Looks like we should plan to spend around USD $10/day for the round trip (€6,40). That sounds great to us if the train runs late! Also looks like an easy trip to the airport when we leave.

According to ns.nl, looks like Amsterdam to Haarlem trains run to about 0130hrs in the morning; then start again about 0530. When you're on their site checking times for late trains, plug in 2350 hours and then keep clicking on the 'later' box until it jumps to the time you want (or don't want.....).

You won't save a dime, Randy, if you stay too late in Amsterdam quaffing Heineken, Grolsch or Dommelsch; but if you must, my favourite's the Dommelsch. Have fun.
