Hi everyone, My husband and I are traveling to Fribourg for a conference in April and all the hotels booked. Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel in a nearby area, such as Bern, that would be convenient for us to take the train from say Bern to Fribourg? Does anyone know if the train would be able to get us from Bern to Fribourg by 9am and then back to Bern say by 6 pm? Thanks much! Pat & Diann

That is a 21-minute train ride, and they run frequently, starting at 5:34 am. I didn't check how late but I'm sure it goes later than 6 pm. Use the Swiss rail website SBB.ch or rail.ch to see the schedule.

Diann, For hotels in Bern, you could have a look at the Hotel Continental. It's reasonably close to the train station, the rooms are very modern and comfortable, the staff are great, and they serve a good breakfast. I stayed there in late September and would absolutely recommend them. Happy travels!
