My husband and I will be staying in St. Johann for 5 nights this October. Does anyone have any suggestions for the area on what to see and do? We have been to Salzburg and Berchestgarden before and will see them again this trip. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Just west of Berchtesgaden is the little village of Ramsau which has a pretty (and famous) pilgrimage church. Of course, the resorts of Kitzbühel and Zell am See are within your range and worth a visit . Just east of Salzburg the towns of St. Wolfgang and St Gilgen are beautiful places to see in the fall.

If it's St. Johann i Pongau, Burg Werfen (beautiful castle) is very close by.

A day trip to Hallstatt could easily be done also. Halstatt is a very beautiful village on a lake. we visited here last Oct.
