St Denis Cathedral near Paris

I have forgotten how to get to the cathedral outside of Paris where many many kings and queens of France are buried. Can anyone help with directions, hours, etc? Judy

St. Denis is a basilica and as such is open every day. Take Metro Line 13 to the end. It is about a 10 minute (or less) walk from the metro station to the basilica, with many direction signs to guide you.

The basilica site has lots of information, including visiting hours.

The kings and queens of France were once buried there. The remains were all scattered during the French Revolution!

To clarify how to get to the Basilica Saint Denis - it is line 13 - direction St. Denis (very important as this line has multiple directions heading north). The stop to reach the Basilicais the second to the last stop - and properly named Basilique de Saint Denis. Last stop is a bit further and is the Universtie St. Denis. Upon arrival - follow the signs - a short 3-4 minute walk.

46 kings and 32 queens, 63 princes and princesses I believe - including Francis I - Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI and my favorite tomb - Chatherine de Medici and Henri II. Then of course the Basilique is the first representation of gothic architecture - great fun.

Note that part of the Basilique is free - while most of the main tombs and the crypt have an entry fee. Well worth it - I recommend an afternoon viewing - when there is sun it is stunning in the transepts. I find the dynastic sanctuary and the funerary art quite revealing. I do recommend the audio guide to help you understand the vast history of the building and the kings and queens.

And just a timing note - the Metro trip from central Paris is a bit long - nearly 25 minutes and one can easily spend several hours touring the Basilica.
