Sprint cell phone coverage

Hello, I am traveling to Europe this September (France, Belgium, Netherlands) And I have recently switched my cell phone service to sprint. I have never traveled abroad with this service (I had AT&T) I'm asking if anyone has any experience with Sprint in Europe, trying to get information from their customer service is pulling teeth. THANKS!

ok.... as mentioned above, I'm 100% knowledgeable about what sprint phone to own as I own the best they have, I use my phone all over the world...lol, I was just asking about the clarity of the reception in those three areas using sprint, sorry if for some reason everyone thought I needed a lesson on my phone. thanks anyways.

Oh sorry, if it's CDMA technology it's kind of OK in the Netherlands and OK on very high floors in France and Belgium. KPN would be the big Dutch provider of such technology and their German subsidiary doesn't even give you reception in the very heart of Frankfurt... ;-)

To others: Sprint's new international phones now have CDMA and quad band GSM.

Denzel,

I have a Sprint Blackberry Tour. I have used it in Italy, Spain and Mexico. No problems to report.

A few tips:
1. Make sure you contact Sprint to turn "on" international service before you leave. I used the chat icon on the Sprint international page.

  1. Make sure to have international text messaging activated as well. So happy to see Sprint now has overseas texting, that was a huge hole in their service.

  2. With Sprint you can get the "unlimited international data package" for $40/month. I used that for e-mail instead of calling home. Nice to send e-mail without having to find internet cafe and I thought $40 was a bargain. My sister has the iphone with ATT and paid tons more.

  3. Sprint will unlock your Tour if you ask. You could get a local sim card if you'll be doing lots of local calling.

  4. GPS worked sporadically. Even when it was not active, it sure was nice to have the data plan so I could use google maps to help get around Barcelona and Rome.
