Trying to book in St. Goar or Bacharach area for spring '09 but can not find availability anywhere....is it due to being to early to book? How far out can these type of rooms book? If dates blocked does anyone know when these open up? My dates are flexible so I was looking to find someplace first then schedule time off/travel.

Sorry , I don't know how early you can book a hotel,I have never booked so much in advance.
maybe, once you find a hotel phone numebr, you can call them up and ask.....

James, are you booking using an online sight or directly with the hotels?
Are you going in April or May?
In May we encountered; May Day, Whit Monday(Catholic holiday), the annual Flower Show in Bingen, and many
German school groups as they celebrate going from one level to the next with their teachers.

I've tried both April and May, but haven't had any success online. I may start calling direct. I think Bea may be right that it is just to early to do online/websites.

I agree with the poster who talked about all the school holidays. We just came back from a May trip to Germany and encountered lots of German tourists and schoolkids on holiday. I also agree that it is too soon to book accommodations for spring, especially if you're thinking of a pension/bed & breakfast place.
