We're doing a day trip to Seville in mid-July with 4 adults and 5 teenagers. We'd like to explore in the morning and stay though evening to see some local flamenco. Any ideas for places/ways to stay cool during the hot afternoon hours?
Maria Luisa Park, just south of the Giralda. It's a large expanse of mature trees, shrubs, and flowers....very pretty, and very cool and shady. Some of the magnificent old houses at the south end of the park are now munseums, including the city archaeological museum, which contains much of the great material from the nearby Roman city of Italica. Go to maps.google.com and copy and paste the following coordinates into the search box to locate it (37.3734, -5.98828)
A more prosaic solution might be to wander through the El Cortes Ingles department store at Plaza del Duque de Victoria, at the top end of the pedestrian shopping streets. It's, I think, 5 or six floors, has a nice restaurant on the top floor, is open 10-10 (mamy stores will close during siesta) and it's got air conditioning!! (37.393209, -5.996239)
thank you!
