Special dinner in Paris, any suggestions?

My husband & I are going to Paris in September. We're looking for someplace special to have a meal our last night, that is memorable & lovely, but not ridiculously expensive. I have dined with family at the Jules Verne several years ago, but its exceptionally expensive and a bit out of our budget. Any suggestions for a lovely, memorable, special meal in Paris? My husband would like views as well...many thanks!!

Steve - when did you last eat there?

I've heard there was a significant change.

I found a wonderful video link recommended on this site. www.geobeats.com put in France as your destination. It shows a short video of Le Royal Madeline Restaurant in Paris. We are going to book dinner there on our last night in Paris in September.
If you visit the restuarant web site the menu is listed. Total Average price for 3 courses approx. 50 - 60 euros per head, plus wine. It looks simply stunning.

Do one of the dinner boat cruises on the Seine. The food is adequate, and the price isn't nearly as shocking as the Eiffel Tower's restaurants. But Paris from the Seine at night is something else!

To clairfy Steve's postings: Ducasse actually took over the Jules Verne in 2007; the joint has a one star Michelin rating which ain't that shabby.

For a more spectacular view (you can see all of the city plus the tower light show), consider Le Ciel de Paris in the Montparnasse Tower. As I recall it touts itself as the highest restaurant on the continent. Take a couple of extra pocketbooks.

Try La Fontaine de Mars in the 7th Arrondissement. Obama ate here once and the food was oh so yummy. I ordered a entree (or appetizer if you will), a main course, a side dish, and a dessert and paid just $70 (after the exchange rate conversion). Well worth it!

Buy this book Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris - it's by a lovely young woman who is a serious French foodie. It lists restaurants in each arrondissement with mouthwatering descriptions and various prices. Your only concern will be too many good choices. It also describes markets and great food shops in Part 2.

This is a difficult question to answer since "memorable" means different things to different people. To me what would make it memorable would be the meal and atmosphere more then thew view. With this in mind I like small maybe even a little romantic, but food must be good and NOT too expensive. So I will recommend a nice, romantic out of the way little place over by the Sorbonne,Le Coup Chou. It was a raining night and we sat by the fire. Most importantly it was the best meal we had while in France. And we had some pretty good ones.

Well, I'm not sure what "not ridiculously expensive" means to you, but here's my pick. One of my favorite restaurats is Le Violin d'Ingres, in the 7th, and they have a 49E menu which is a very good value for a Michelin starred restaurant. Wonderful food and service. You need a reservation.
