Spain with Morroco Pre and Post Tour Ideas

We are taking the RS Spain with Morroco Tour in early October. Would like to have your thoughts on pre and post tour agenda:

  1. Two full days pre-tour at or near Barcelona - One day at Mont Serrat, one day wondering in non-tour museums such as Picasso, Casa Mila.

  2. One/Two extra days post tour at Sevilla - day trip to Cordoba.(we get 2 days as part of the tour).

  3. One/Two days at Madrid? (does it worth 2 days since we get 2 nights during the tour already.

This makes our total tour at about 21/22 days.

Love to hear your experience on same routes/similar tours.

Thanks

So many great choices. 1. We did the day trip to Montserrat in April - don't miss it if you're in Barcelona. 2. Don't miss Cordoba - we liked it better than Sevilla. 3. We spent 10 days in Madrid and still had things to see. Depending on your tour, there are all sorts of sites/tours in Madrid and close by. Day trips to Segovia, Toledo, El Escorial, etc. Don't know what you'll already be seeing on the tour?

Mike.
Just got back from the Spain/ Morroco tour yesterday and it was all we expected and more. We flew in a day early and did Montjuc which was easy to get to with a taxi and well worth the views of the city. Did the Catalonya Mueseum and Joan Miro plus just walking around ( didn't make it to the castle or the cable car but would have liked to)Also did the Picasso and Parc Guelle which were easy to get to (Picasso was within walking distance and Parc was cheap taxi ride). We didn't stay an extra day in Sevilla but it is a lovely city. The tour covers all the major sites but an extra day of soaking up the ambiance would be nice. We jumped on an Aventi ( slower train) to Cordoba. Not to be missed! Lovely little town and the Mezquita is amazing. Then we headed back to Madrid for two and a half the days. We had spent extra time in the Prado during the tour so we went to some of the other mueseums plus the we did a tapas tour and just walked around ( it was unseasonable cool). If you want more details about hotels and things we did on the tour you can send me a pm. I hope you get Helen as your guide because she is outstanding!

It sounds like you're looking to pick two out of three. If that's the case, I'd put Barcelona at the bottom of the list. You can't get too much time in either Madrid or Andalusia; two pick between the last two would be hard, but Madrid would probably get the nod.

Thanks for all your feedbacks and comments. And welcome home Gail. It sounds like you had a great time with the tour and the extra days prior to and after the RS tour.

I am planning on an almost identical journey and hoping to enjoy as much as you did.

I will love to hear about your hotel choices, activities, and your experiences with them. Feel free to use my personal mail box.

This will be our number 4 RS tours - Greece, Italy (twice), now we are looking forwards to the Spain tour.

Thanks to all responded!

I did this tour in May. Two days in Barcelona at the start is plenty, but be sure to go to La Boqueria market (AMAZING) on one of your free days or the Saturday the tour starts - it's closed Sundays and you won't have time on Monday to see it. The Picasso museum is open late-ish so you can see it when you get back from Montserrat (check times though). On your Sunday tour day, share a taxi with others to Parc Guell, great views and a cool way to see more Gaudi. I took a taxi from there to Casa Mila (if you buy an ArtTicket, you skip the line, also good at Picasso museum). As for the end of your trip, the thing I wished I had done was a stop at Cordoba (instead I took train back to an overnight in Madrid). I didn't feel like I needed more time in Sevilla, but should have stopped overnight in Cordoba before heading to Madrid.

PM me if you want hotel suggestions, we stayed in great spots.
