When is the best time of year for a Rick Steves tour of Spain?

Assuming you will visit both northern and southern spain. I would want to visit in spring or fall. September into October would be ideal. If festivals are your main thing, you would want to check when they are. Many are in the spring and summer.

Even Rick Steves suggests visiting Spain during "The shoulder months", being spring and autumn. Then, you'll have much better (i.e. fairer) weather and far fewer tourists. Enjoy! Saludos, MadridMan @ you-know-where!

There is no such thing as bad weather - only inapropriate dress! the UK-folks say! I went 2 years ago in April/May (last week/first week) and it was great! Flowers out in Portugal (when they did that on the tour). it gets warm so id say go earlier (first couple offered!) Be mindful of April and Easter they will probably schedule right after. May Day was nice tho.
