We are planning a 10 day trip to Spain from Mar28 through Apr8 and the end of the trip falls during the easter holidays Is it a good week to go? thanks Vidyasagar
What do you mean by "is it a good week to go?" Are you asking about weather, crowds, seeing the Holy Week processions? You would need to specify where in Spain you intend to visit and what type of things you hope to do and see.
I plan to be in Madrid at that time. Will the tourist sights be open such as Palace, Prado. Also I am travelling with a 5 yr old - are the crowds too large? Thanks for the replies Vidyasagar
Who knows?? Any time is a good week to go. A couple of years ago we were in Madrid around Christmas and we didn't fine that the crowds any worse than when we were there in the summer a few years earlier. If going to Rome would be a different question. My guess, solely a guess, the crowds will not be unusually large at that time
Looks like the Prado, for example, is closed on Good Friday and all Mondays: http://www.museodelprado.es/en/visit-the-museum/opening-hours/ Google each place you are considering to make sure. Regular guide book hours may not apply.
As mentioned, during your first few days you'll see Semana Santa/Holy Week preparations going on wherever you are in Spain. During your last week you'll see the processions themselves, again, throughout Spain. If you're in Madrid and hoping to avoid crowds, this is actually a GREAT place to be during Holy Week as MANY people are traveling abroad and throughout Spain, many going to Andalucia and Seville. The streets of Madrid have much lighter foot-traffic at this time. There will also be some processions in Madrid and they themselves will be crowded but much easier to see than those in Seville by comparison. Enjoy your trip to Spain and your visit to Madrid!!! Saludos, MadridMan @ you-know-where!!!
Thanks to all of you for the reply - We have started to book hotels and planning to enjoy madrid Vidyasagar
