I want to go from Barcelona to Cordova. The fast train takes about 4-1/2 hours. The car drive takes about 9 hours. The car route goes along the coast to Valencia and then cuts inland to Cordova. Is the car route scenic enough to justify taking more time? Any observations or suggestions? Thanks.
Both legs of that route suck. The only possible redeming value would be a slight detour to Ciudad Real. The only scenic way is via Lerida, Zaragozza, Madrid, Toledo, and then on down. That's closer to twelve hours of road time. It's got to be all or nothing - - your idea of a drive is in the middle. Train.
The good news is the AVe train is really sweet. Buy your tickets 60 days (or so) in advance to get the Web fare, which is 60% off. It is mot offered on all trains.
I would never trade nine hours in a car for a 4 hour train trip.
Take the train.
In your case I'd go with the train. The car makes sense when you have planned a lot of intermediate stops along the way - especially when they aren't easily reached by train.
