I want to travel from Cordoba to Toledo and would like to take the train. Is there a train directly from Cordoba to Toledo, or is it necessary to go from Cordoba into Madrid and then take another train to Toledo? Thanks.
In the past you have to go Madrid. Then someone posted that you could go direct. What does the schedule show? You have looked at the schedule?
Maybe that "someone" will return and post more information. All I can find on Renfe and bahn.de are trains with a connection in Madrid. It's a nice trip of 3 hours total, with an easy transfer at Atocha staion in Madrid. Buy your Cordoba-Madrid ticket well in advance to get the best discount on the AVE train, unless you are a senior and wish to use that discount.
I've never heard of a direct train. Toledo is at the end of essentially a commuter line out of Madrid and it is a dead end line. So yes, you go first to Atocha Station, then catch the regular service (about hourly) from there. Ticket lines at Atocha can be very long, so if possible try to buy the Toledo ticket ahead of time, perhaps in Cordoba before you leave there.
As there is doubt. There is no direct train journey between Toledo and anywhere but Madrid Puerta de Atocha station. All change at Madrid.
It looks like you connect in Attocha (Madrid) first. There's may be local trains I'm not getting in my search. The trip takes 3 to 3 1/2 hours (including the connection time). You can search times and prices here: http://www.raileurope-world.com/
'There's may be local trains I'm not getting in my search.' I cannot be sure what you refer to. The piece of rail network Madrid to Toledo is only served by AVANT trains run by RENFE. You would be wise to use the website - http://www.renfe.com/ rather than RailEurope, an agency, with a known (politely put) erratic attitude to the provision of information.
