I'm trying to book a train ticket on renfe website for traveling on 12/27. The evening train is available but the morning train is labeled with "train blocked". Is it because they have not released the complete holiday schedule? or the morning train may be canceled? that will definitely impact my travel schedule.
Go to a Rick Steves type travel agent and get them to book your Spain train travel. It's the only way to book train travel in Europe for times when a particular trip or date is essential to your plans. Renfe has been difficult to deal with unless you are on the spot since I started travelling by train in Spain in 1982.
It really would be very useful if you reveal where you are exactly trying to travel between. Spain is a fairly big country with lots of train options. Two years ago we travel from the day after Christmas through New Years - Madrid, Cordoba, Seville, Granada, Malaga -- Bought all tickets the day before and most trains were less than half full. Unless booking overnight trains the need for advance reservations is low. Try bahn.de to look at schedules.
I'm trying to book train from Madrid to Granada on 12/27 morning, where the website shows the 9am train is "Train Blocked". Also trying to book train from Granada to Seville on 12/28 evening, website doesn't show train schedule yet. Frank, when you booked the train ticket one day before, are there still web fare (60% discount) available? Thanks!
