Spain: renfe.com vs renfe.es

We are taking a train from Barcelona to Logrono. I get two different prices depending on if I log onto renfe.es vs renfe.com The train numbers are the same but not the name; the times are the same.
I understand that if you buy them in Spain, you can buy a gold card which gets you 60% off the price?

Are you sure you didn't get switched to RailEurope on one of those searches? From what I can tell, renfe.es and renfe.com are the same site. If I go to the web address www.renfe.es it comes up as renfe.com. that is the official site and I bought lots of our tickets there. The best prices are with the Web discount (60%) if you can get them. The Tareta Dorada is available for purchase in Spain to seniors, but the discounts are 25% to 40%, depending on type of train and day of travel. No 60% discount.

thank you, you are right, I did get switched to RailEurope. Still, at renfe.com when I click on prices, there is only a 40 cent difference between buying them on line and at the station.....

Do you mean 40 cents or 40 percent. What dates are you traveling on? The discount tickets could be gone.

Renfe is still showing an Estrella fare of 35.10 for the 7:35 Alvia train on that day. the later Alvia train is up to regular price (58.50). If you wait to buy at the station that Estrella fare may be gone. I'd buy now if you can manage it on the Renfe site.
