How about an assessment of hotel versus apartments in Spain?

Anything a week or longer, I always rent an apartment. It's much more convenient for meals, laundry, and just relaxing....it's nice to have a place to "come home" to. I've used homelidays.com with great success in Madrid, Paris, and Rome...it's a clearinghouse, so you deal with the owners themselves. If you want to PM me, I can give you the contact for a nice apartment we use whenever we are in Madrid.

I have stayed in Hotels, Hostals and Apartments in Madrid....if I were to be there more than 2 days I would want an apartment...more space, and the cost is not prohibitive either. Check out Bookassist.com...I have used them and stayed in Princessa Apartmento 14 in March -- (or just google princessa) Near Plaza Expana and very convenient.
