You need to refine your thoughts just a bit. Essentially choosing between the northern and souther parts of the Iberian Peninsula - - you can't possibly do both. Barcelona doesn't make much sense if you'll include Portugal since it's a bit more than a six-hour hard drive from Madrid with a lot of vacant space in between. Lisbon is about the same distance in the opposite direction.

We will need more details from you to help much. I agree with the above - an open jaw with Lisbon and either Madrid or Barcelona makes more sense. Portugal and Spain are not well connected despite being neighbors. However, off fees for cars from one country to another are extremely high. The main cities visited in Spain include Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, Sevilla, Granada and many other smaller towns The main cities visited in Portugal include Lisbon, Porto, the Algrave and the palace at Sintra, as well as other smaller towns and sites If you haven't already, pick up guidebooks for Spain and Portugal - review them and then let us help you narrow down your options.
